Internally, LWRCI has installed the Enhanced Fire Control Group. On the outside, there’s a Magpul MIAD pistol grip, special triggerguard and VLTOR EMod stock—all better than Mil-Spec. The LWRCI 5.56mm M6A2 can easily be considered the Cadillac of piston-operated black rifles. The gun features premium parts and components throughout.
Piston or no piston? That is the big question when it comes to the modern AR-platform rifle. The truth is that few gun owners will ever fire their Stoner-based AR rifle enough to realize any benefits of switching from direct gas-impingement to a piston-driven system.
But what about those who truly run their guns, and run them hard? Does the piston-driven system offer more reliability than the original design? That was the question TW set out to test with the new rifle from LWRC International.
Reliabilty is the number one factor for law enforcement when it comes to choosing a duty rifle. There’s no room for malfunctions or jams when lives are on the line.
M6A2 D-DEA
Many readers will be aware of the fact that LWRCI has a full stable of rifles that use the gas piston operating system, in their M6 category. The M6A2 D-DEA rifle is one of the newer models in the catalog and it was designed to address several specifications. As the title would indicate, the D-DEA rifle was built to meet the requirements and standards of the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration. The DEA tested and then blessed the M6A2 D-DEA rifle after an extended evaluation period. This rifle is now approved for individual agent purchase and duty use.
